A
new concept of frame design. They have been called the inventors of frame fashion: 35 years ago, Arnold and Anneliese Schmied transformed "glasses that make you see better into glasses that make you look better". In 1964, the Austrian couple established the successful Silhouette corporation in Linz with a staff composed of one designer and five employees. For the first time, they created frames that combined top quality requirements, excellent wearing comfort and fashionable design. Today Silhouette is a leading international frame manufacturer - the company's creative pioneering spirit and numerous revolutionary innovations continue to set yardsticks for the industry worldwide Sun
Protection begins with the Eyes. Today,
sunglasses are no longer regarded as mere "light protection glasses",
but also as fashion accessories. Under dazzling sunlight, they are
absolutely essential for the eyes, since invisible ultraviolet radiation, if
sufficiently intense, can lead to painful and dangerous injuries. For
Silhouette, fashionable design always includes top-quality lenses as well:
All sunglasses feature optical quality class 1 sun-protection lenses with
100% UV protection. The lenses are made of high-quality synthetic material,
which filters radiation better than glass. The degree of lens tinting and
the colouring are up for the wearer to decide. Silhouette presents
collections with an individual, vibrant colour spectrum that encompasses
many nuances ranging from elegant, cool aqua hues and muted greens, blues
and browns to the transparent shades of the innovative Minimal Art models. The
colour trends for 2001 "Back to the future!" 2001 will be a great
summer of fashion. This season"s style breathes a spirit of
experimentation. For their creations, designers worldwide boarded a time
machine and stopped it alternately in the 1960s and 1980s. All themes for
this summer are colourful, friendly and communicate pure optimism
Sensual
and attractive - these qualities best describe the new colours on the
catwalks; gently mixed, they delight body and soul. The trends: green, blue
and pink plus skin-caressing apricot and the all-time classics black and
white. Apricot:
Blue or green are too "shrill" for you? That's definitely not true
of this new beguiler whose elegant reserve has conquered catwalks all over
the world; designers love its discreet and classy appeal. Chiffon provides
the most delicate temptation for using apricot. Chiffon
bewitches with a touch of airy weightlessness. Risqué or flattering like a
splendid summer night's breeze. Black-white:
Although on all other fronts this spring is a riot of colours, fashion has
also opted for a black-and-white alternative. Less
is more? Not where patterns are concerned! This season, they must be large
and striking. Top trends include graphic patterns, checks and stripes,
vertical and horizontal, just like in the distant 1960s. They all blend well
with this cool trend that renounces colours, yet embodies a beauty all its
own. Green:
The wide range of shades of green does not lose its appeal - on the contrary:
The colour of nature is trendier than ever before! All new outfits sport
variations of green, opting for the "complete look", and are of
course combined with leaves or flowers. Blue:
Blue like a springtime sky, blue like communication and cool: the latter
aspect made royal blue an absolute hit in the 1980s. The next season would
be imperfect without a "blue note" ... Pink:
Pink has shed its "good girl" image: Pink
is the most delicious colour of this summer. Fashion designers whet our
appetite with a range from gentle rose to shocking pink. This colour is to
clothe the entire woman from head to toe: frame, dress, blouse, belt, shoes...
Rosy times are here again! Silhouette design - always in the spirit of the
times: These
new, refreshing colour combinations not only conquer the fashion scene, but
of course inspire the latest designs of Silhouette's sunwear collection as
well. The shapes and colours of these fashion-oriented frames express the
new individualism and image-consciousness of trendsetters and thus become
absolute "fashion musts" for avant-garde users. Exciting
design is the product of exciting people. The interpretation and involvement
of the very latest lifestyle trends and fashion influences challenges
Silhouette's designers to tap all their creative sensitivity. A good example
of close-contact inspiration is the New York Fashion Week 2001: the centre
of the fashion world and meeting-place of trend creators of the
international fashion scene! This
year, Silhouette participated in the New York Fashion Week for the third
time and also acted as one of the sponsors of this high-profile event that
had fashion people worldwide spellbound for fully eleven days. During the
Fashion Week, the leading designers from the U.S. and the rest of the world
presented their new collections. In co-operation with four U.S. designers,
Silhouette specially developed a number of colour variations (PR frames) on
the Titan Minimal Art series as an accessory to the dynamic collections of
these leading fashion creators. For Silhouette, this co-operation harboured
a thrilling challenge and moreover offered a welcome inspiration input Titan
Minimal Art Models 8569 and 8570. Within
a very short period, the Silhouette Titan Minimal Art sunwear
model 8570 has received
already the second coveted award for its excellent design. Recently
the internationally renowned "Design Centre North Rhine-Westphalia"
awarded the "Red Dot" to this futuristic model. This prize
followed on the heels of the "iF Label for Excellent Design",
which the internationally respected Industrie Forum Design of Hanover had
assigned to these sunglasses at the beginning of the year. This
means another high-profile recognition for the revolutionary Titan Minimal
Art series and confirms the top-quality Austrian craftsmanship it embodies. Model
8569, the Silhouette lead
motif of 2001, graceful, self-confident and reduced to the very essence. The
new look for 2001 is sexy, chic and incredibly lightweight! The
avant-garde design results from a combination of space look and lightness.
These ergonomically shaped sunglasses cling pleasantly to the contours of
the head and offer maximum wearing comfort. These attractive models charm
with their avant-garde design and enhance the appeal of the wearer's face
with their elegant, delicate titanium temples. Depending
on personal taste and lifestyle, these two different lens shapes are
available in five trendy, fresh summer hues. This is truly outstanding
design combined with customary Silhouette quality! |
