Byblos
was started by two designers, Keith Varty and Alan Cleaver, who both
studied at the Royal College of Art in London. This label is connected to
the Genny Group since 1980, when Arnoldo Girombelli (who is the founder of
Genny Moda) approached them to design men’s and women’s lines. Their
designs are distinctive in their youthfulness, embroidery and romance.
Keeping
up to date, being abreast with the times, being a leader in design and
technology, these are the targets of Byblos. For one of the most famous
brands in the catwalks all over the world, being fashionable is a must.
Combining fashion with comfort to create a practical object for our
everyday use is the goal which Byblos has reached through this new
collection. This collection consists of 8 acetate and 12 metal styles. A
cascade of sparkling diamond dust opens our show with Style 225 made of
tinsel plastic, dressed in flamboyant colors like purple and yellow, water
green and blue. Thanks to its oval but stretched shape, its pace lends
self-confidence to very youthful lines, while the technological aspect is
represented by the flex temples. From behind the scenes, the highly
squared shape of Style 228 shows up. Extremely lightweight, the suppleness
of its flex temples makes colors so sharp and different like prune and
eggplant purple, literally take flight. For the man who has nothing to
prove and loves to dare. Much more delicately, like a far away whisper yet
with a firm stride, Style 232 takes the stage. The flex temple is fitted
on the lower side of the eye rim. The frame is tinged with transparent,
mild colors wrapping around the somewhat rectangular lens, supported in
the middle by a nylon thread. After the calm, the storm: our catwalk is
flooded with color flowing from striped temples and superimposed chromatic
shades. The colors of the sea combined with sand yellow, eggplant with
pomegranate, water with honey: here comes Style 226, with its feline and
intriguing shape. After being hailed by both the critics and the public,
once again onto the catwalk is Style 712. Made of nickel silver (a metal
alloy) where taste blends with the special features of this material. It
has a sinuous contour, due to its lightweight yet large bridge and its
oval shape flattened at the front; its delicate colors won’t let it pass
unnoticed. Our show closes with the epitome of modern style and technology:
Style 704 featuring three-facet temples and sharp colors ranging from the
most classical to the most modern tones on a narrow, squared frame. |
